Dating in Dallas: Date #1

OK, this is a weekly posting, on every Friday, there will be a great date idea in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. My attempt is to present a fun and unusual idea, not just hitting a club or going to a movie, but something that may require a little work, but provide romantic results. And as a guy writing this, we all need to spark a little romance into the relationship to gain relationship rewards. So, without further ado, let’s get this date started.

The first date consists of starting out at the Conspiracy Museum, if it has reopened, however, it appears that it is gone, or at least I cannot locate it. Citysearch shows that it has reopened at 110 S. Market Street and the whole idea of the museum is really awesome and fun.  The museum closes at 6PM, and as the new location is twice the size of the old location. Which leaves time open to do other things.

Food would be the next choice thing to do after the museum. Located close to here are a number of restaurants, such as the Spaghetti Warehouse, which I believe is the first ever Spaghetti Warehouse, and has a real rail car which you can dine inside. I will say this, the food is not really above average, but the Lasagna is good. If you like theme restaurants, there is also a Hard Rock Cafe, Chili’s, and a restaurant called Baby Doe’s Matchless Mine, which I have not dined at as I write this, but know that it is an upscale, silver-mine-themed eatery that offers great views of Dallas. It sits on a hill just off of highway 35 right next to all the downtown skyline. Wait, wait, wait, it closed in 2005, so that is a no-go.

So, what will be another choice? How about the Dream Cafe, as each Monday, they have storytellers, bounce house, and all sorts of stuff for kids, but as this is a date, you can find your inner child. The idea is to have fun and this should be more than fun as the food gets high ratings from Yelp.com.

So, afterward, the next thing is to have dessert, and if time is willing you can go to Paradise Bakery at 2101 Cedar Springs Road and get a GIANT COOKIE. If time isn’t really with you, as they close at 7PM on the weekend, you can visit Cheesecake Factory, as their food has said to not be bad, but there is a reason why they are known for their desserts. It has been said that a way to a guys heart is through his stomach. Guess what, diamonds may be a girls best friend, but they take notice when you present them with good food, too, especially when it is taking care of their sweet tooth.

Finally, at this point, there are a number of options as to what to do. Across the street is Northpark Mall. There is also a Barnes and Nobles that you can stroll to from the Cheesecake Factory, as well as a Container Store, but let’s face it, guys don’t want to be walking around the Container Store, so if you see it, RUN!

Not too far is a Dave and Buster’s, an adult version of Chuck E. Cheese, where you can drink and play video games, but not probably too well, if you are drinking. They are located at 8021 Walnut Hill Lane. But I would recommend to walk in the Mall, as it is inside, and they typically have fun and unusual displays, such as a turtle or penguin exhibit inside the mall.
