Comfort

“We are called to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed.” – Unknown

(Truthfully, it’s not unknown. Someone knows who coined the phrase, I’m sure many people do. But I forgot where I heard it and I don’t want anyone to think that I came up with such eloquence.)

Disturb the comfortable. Comfort the disturbed.

It sounds like to me, this is a…

war-cry,

a battle chant,

a declaration,

an exclamation,

a call to all,

to look beyond one’s self, and address the needs of others.

It’s an amazing idea. To always look to the needs of others and to not be as concerned with your own. Because if everyone bought in, then one’s own needs would be met by another. We would be interdependent. We would be trusting. We would strive for teamwork. We would understand community. We would value relationship. We would value others. We would understand love more fully. A beautiful idea…concept…theory…hope.

I’ve deciphered the meaning…Now, what about the application?
