'Scott & Bailey' sheds almost 1.8m

Ratings Roundup compcov headerMonday, June 6 2011, 10:54 BST DC Bailey from Scott & BaileyITV1's new detective series Scott & Bailey lost nearly 1.8m viewers on Sunday night, but still won its ratings battle with Case Histories on BBC One, according to the latest audience data.

Scott & Bailey, starring Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp, averaged 6.14m (23.6%) for ITV1 from 9pm, down 1.78m on last week's debut episode. A further 314k (1.6%) watched the show on ITV1+1.

However, Scott & Bailey was still able to outperform Case Histories in the 9pm hour, after the Jason Isaacs-starring crime drama premiered on BBC One with 5.42m (20.9%).

It wasn't all bad news for BBC One, though, as Antiques Roadshow pulled in 6.55m (26.6%) in the 8pm hour, beating the Sunday debut of the new series of Popstar to Operastar, which grabbed 4.36m (17.1%) on ITV1 and 164k (0.6%) on timeshift. The Popstar to Operastar results show also entertained 3.28m (15.5%) between 10pm and 10.30pm.

Earlier, Countryfile grabbed 5.24m (23.2%) in the 7pm hour, outperforming The Royal's 4.61m (20.4%) on ITV1 and 271k (1.1%) an hour later.

Live coverage of Rafael Nadal's win in the French Open final averaged 2.33m (16.8%) on BBC Two between 2pm and 6.15pm, before Richard Hammond's Engineering Connections built 1.47m (7.5%).

A repeat of Top Gear revved up 1.8m (7.8%) on BBC Two from 7.15pm and documentary Murray Walker: Life in the Fast Lane captivated 1.62m (6.5%) from 8.15pm. Coast mustered 1.89m (7.4%) in the hour from 9.15pm, before a screening of The Damned United scored with 1.12m (7.7%).

A showing of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York found 1.96m (9.6%) on Channel 4 from 6pm and 455k (2%) on +1. The Hotel continued with 1.61m (6.5%) from 8pm and 237k (0.9%) an hour later. A screening of comedy Role Models amused 1.79m (7.8%) from 9pm and 331k (2.3%) on timeshift.

Highlights of England's Test series against Sri Lanka pulled in 508k (2.3%) on Channel 5 in the 7pm hour, before showings of Shanghai Noon and Rambo roused 1.15m (4.6%) and 1.31m (8.3%) from 8pm.

BBC One narrowly won primetime with 21.9% over ITV1's 19.3% (+1: 0.9%). Channel 4 came in third with 8% (+1: 1.6%), followed by BBC Two with 7.1% and Channel 5 with 4.5%.

Elsewhere, new episodes of US animated comedy Family Guy pulled in 983k (4.4%) and 1.32m (7.2%) on BBC Three from 10pm.
