Jury selection ending in Sowell case

CLEVELAND - Jury selection in the Cleveland trial of serial-killings defendant Anthony Sowell enters its third week today as attorneys interview the last of 200 potential jurors called for the case.

Cuyahoga County prosecutors and defense attorneys have individually questioned 183 of the prospects, exploring their views on the death penalty at length and out of earshot of the media.http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=dvd+with+media+on+it&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Seventy-four of them are scheduled to return on Tuesday to Common Pleas Judge Dick Ambrose's courtroom for more general interviews.

The attorneys are expected to interview them in larger groups on topics ranging from their occupations and preferred media to their interest in true-crime TV or books.

The attorneys expect to have a jury by week's end; however, opening statements have yet to be scheduled.

Before the attorneys lay out their theories of the case, jurors will visit 12205 Imperial Ave. - Sowell's duplex on Cleveland's East Side, where investigators found the remains of 11 women in the fall of 2009.

Sowell, 51, is charged with multiple counts of aggravated murder, kidnapping, abusing a corpse and tampering with evidence. He faces the death penalty if convicted, and his trial is expected to take months with as many as 132 witnesses testifying.
