Forgotten Dreams

AUSTRALIA'S HEART

Australia's heart is an integral part

Of the life beating in you and in me

Australia's heart sends a bright love dart

To inspire all human souls to be free

My heart's part of the greater life that beats

From the centre of this old wide, brown land

Great national heart from the land to the sea

Gives life to our deserts, people and me

Inspires the efforts of those keen to grow,

Contribute their action, give what they know

Spirit of people makes this life of ours,

As spirits of bush create its wildflowers

A fine future for all our Aussie souls

If the noblest heart beats hold the controls!

ALBANY HARBOUR

Never have I heard a song of praise to suffice

Pay tribute to greatness, and grandeur as it should

Of Albany, South West, with its harbour supreme

A place of safe refuge from old sailing days' dream

Vision wonderful, waters stretch vast to the gaze

Greets us unexpected as we curved round the bay

Stretched wide the blue waters with islands embroidered

A pure jewel of Nature without man's despoilment

I've long travelled afar, and seen many fine sights

The lights of Rio, and all the cities of lights

From the High Himalayas to vast desert sands

I've seen many foreign ports in far foreign lands

There are breathtaking views of the Andes, and Alps

Mystic Machu Picchu, and the giant Everest

Nature's mountains, streams, and valleys all can delight

As does England in spring and the deserts at night.

I feel blessed to have seen famous places afar

Seen glorious sights in light of both sun and star

But quite fresh, surprised with unexpected delight

I found Albany Harbour, sheer joy to my sight!

The Ending

When all the melodies of life are sung

And all the tunes of joy all played away

When all the music has been orchestrated

And no more flutes and notes pattern in the air

When no more sadness squeezed from out our souls

And no more virtues for man to express

When ideas can no more torment the mind

Or feelings tear the heart within our breast

Only then is life it seems to end

When no more human love is there to give

When no more hateful miseries bemoan

When there are no more books to read or write

And no inspiration to turn a rhyme

When no more laughter stirs to bring a tear

No longer untouched kingdoms to explore

When no more happiness to fill the heart

Then surely is that life can live no more

When there is no more dancing in the street

The sunsets and sunrise drained of their glow

When no more stars to seem a sparkling show

With no great buildings to design or build

When there is no longer cruel human war

Barriers to peace dissolved, no life killed

Then will we have lived great years of human life

Time then to rest until another round is Willed.
