From a polar bear, for owning a Nissan LEAF!
I adore this commercial! At first I was confused and wasn’t sure what it was for, and assumed it was for some National Geographic “Save the Bears”-esque fund, but once I saw the ending, I was completely won over.
The Youtube caption summarizes it nicely: “Seeing its arctic home melting away, a lone polar bear sets out on a great journey to thank someone who is trying to help.” The man the bear comes to visit is an owner of a Nissan LEAF, which is an electric car and generates zero emissions. If you haven’t guessed already, he gets a great big polar bear hug. How freakin’ adorable!
I’m not one for gooey, cheesy things, but this video really struck a chord with me — and I’m not even remotely concerned about the predicament of polar bears or melting ice-caps! I’m a horrible person, I know. Anyway, watch it and be touched!
I was interested to learn that a real polar bear was actually used to make the commercial. Named Aggie, the bear is trained and has been on other movie sets before. Aggie was used for nearly all the scenes except for those taken in the arctic, which were actually taken from nature documentary footage, and the scene where the bear crosses a bridge at night. That was computer generated. For more behind the scenes trivia, watch this video.
I’ll end this post with, “The Nissan LEAF has arrived, and the planet is glad it’s here.”FacebookShareStumbleUponDiggEmailPrintelectric car, Nissan, Nissan LEAF, Polar Bear, zero emissions
