Advertisers need to start advertising for consumers again. There is a trend among agencies to advertise for other agencies. It’s against nature, like peacocks strutting their stuff in front of other peacocks. It’s the peahens/consumers that need impressing, not those other fellas. And, sure, consumers may be impressed, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re going to buy into the brand or product advertised. Sometimes, advertisers get so carried away that consumers don’t even understand the premise of a campaign, commercial or advertisement. That’s not okay. An agency’s job is to sell things. Not to go wildly overboard. Not to be the biggest, baddest and most recognized through awards. Instead, agencies should be focusing on communicating their clients’ idea effectively and promoting their clients’ products and services successfully. That is, after all, what they’re hired to do.
