A versatile minesweeping remote controlled robot designed in Cambridgeshire has won export business across the world.
The mobile robot built by Armtrac of Burwell is now operating in Africa and South America where a total of 34 units have been sold.
The unit flails the ground to detect mines or can use an arm to pick up devices which may be explosive and carry them away for safe disposal.
Armtrac managing director Steve Brown said it can be used to clear mined areas or in terrorist situations.
